The gendarmes put an end in the night from Friday to Saturday to an illegal rave which gathered around 300 people in the west of France, currently confined because of the pandemic of Covid-19, according to the local authorities.
“The gendarmes intervened around 1:00 am to seize the material of a rave bringing together about 300 people. The people had gathered in Saint-Brieuc, and after a game of cat and mouse with the gendarmes had settled in the evening in Haut-Corlay ”, a small Breton village, the prefecture told AFP. from the Côtes-d’Armor department.
According to the same source, there was no incident.
Contacted by AFP, the mayor of the town of 600 inhabitants, Jean-Pierre Le Bihan, said that “we could no longer hear his” Saturday morning.
The prefecture recalls that festive gatherings of a musical nature are prohibited in the Côtes-d’Armor until Monday, when France will begin to very gradually lift its confinement established because of a new epidemic outbreak.
“Police and gendarmerie (are) mobilized all weekend to ensure the maintenance of public order and compliance with these provisions”, indicates the prefecture on Twitter.
On New Year’s Eve, a giant rave organized not far from there, in Lieuron, hit the headlines, with around 2,500 participants, three times the population of the village.
President Emmanuel Macron sketched on Thursday the outlines of the deconfinement which will begin on Monday and will be carried out in four stages by the end of June.
However, these relaxations worry some specialists and health actors, the epidemic indicators remaining at a high level despite a slight decrease.
More than 300 people still die daily in France, which on Friday recorded nearly 25,000 new contaminations, and nearly 30,000 Covid-19 patients are currently hospitalized. In total, the pandemic has killed more than 104,000 people there.
