On April 16, American users of the news portal Fox News commented on the publication on the interception of the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft by a Russian fighter over the Pacific Ocean. Users consider this incident to be another provocation of US President Joe Biden.
They noted that the United States is lucky that Russian President Vladimir Putin can control himself despite these provocations.
“I think we are very lucky that Putin is able to control himself in the face of provocations from a patient with Alzheimer’s. But this does not mean that Putin will let Biden get away with everything. Biden wants to make Putin the scapegoat, but that won’t work. That is, we are heading for war, ”says user Gunvald.
According to Americans, the mental state of the 78-year-old American leader does not allow him to “do business” with Russia, or any other international affairs.
“I don’t remember such negative diplomacy coming from the Trump administration. It’s clear to me that Biden is mentally incapable of doing business with Russia, China and North Korea. This is very dangerous, ”the user commented on Biden’s policy.
The Americans also spoke about the new anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the United States on April 15. In their opinion, these measures do not make any sense.
“This message itself is nothing new. What is new, however, is that US sanctions matter less and less because countries like Russia and China continue to do business with the states against which we are imposing sanctions, which makes them meaningless. For example, China really likes doing business with Iran, ”said a DLRep user.
Earlier, on April 15, Biden signed a decree imposing sanctions against Russia. It was clarified that the Biden administration “made it clear” that the United States “wants stable and predictable” relations with Russia, but at the same time will defend its national interests. In addition, it was announced about the expulsion of 10 employees of the Russian diplomatic mission in Washington.
The next day, Russia imposed countermeasures in response to new US sanctions. The Foreign Ministry announced the expulsion of 10 American diplomats, the restriction of the practice of short-term trips of diplomats through the State Department, a complete cessation of the practice of hiring by US diplomatic missions administrative and technical workers from among Russian citizens and third countries, and other measures. Also on the sanctions list were eight current and former American high-ranking officials and figures who are involved in the development and implementation of the anti-Russian course.
At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow has the opportunity to take painful measures for American business, but it will hold them back for now.
According to the vice-speaker of the Federation Council, Konstantin Kosachev, Russia responded to the US sanctions promptly, extremely concretely and harshly.
In turn, a spokesman for the US State Department said on April 17 that the United States views Russia’s response to its sanctions as an escalation, which is regrettable.
