The US state of Florida imposes fines on social media sites with over 100 million monthly users for blocking campaign accounts on Twitter and Facebook.
According to Fox News, the fine will amount to $ 250,000 a day for a candidate from Florida, and $ 25,000 for the rest. The law will oblige social networks to notify politicians seven days before a decision is made that their accounts may be blocked.
The Florida Legislature has already passed the relevant draft. Governor Ron Desantis will sign it shortly.
We will remind, the largest American media were criticized by the Republicans after blocking the accounts of former US President Donald Trump after the storming of the Capitol on January 6. So, Twitter deleted the ex-president’s account forever, and Facebook still hasn’t restored Trump’s profile. Leading tech companies in the US are supporting a liberal agenda, Republicans say.
