A deadly tornado passed through the state of Alabama in the United States on Thursday, at least five people were killed, according to NBC News.

Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown confirmed the deaths of five residents, including an adult family of three in a timber frame house and two adults in mobile homes.

In the town of Pelham, Shelby County, authorities have posted videos and photographs of large trees blocking roads and damaged utility posts hanging over streets full of rubble.

Pelham Mayor Gary Waters has imposed a curfew that will run from 10 pm to 6 pm until Monday. As of Thursday evening, over 35,000 consumers in Alabama are without lights.
