The Moscow authorities intend to build five more football stadiums in the capital in 2020-2021. This was announced on Monday, August 10, by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin during the opening of a new sports complex with a football field in Severnoye Medvedkovo.

According to the official, the authorities intend to build such a stadium in each district of the city. He noted that six such complexes have already been built, five more will be built by the end of 2021. It will be possible to train at such stadiums all year round.

Sobyanin noted that the number of Muscovites playing football has reached 300 thousand people.

“Moscow is probably the richest city with large stadiums: CSKA, Dynamo, Luzhniki, Lokomotiv. I hope that Torpedo will recover someday, ”the Moscow city news agency quoted the mayor as saying.

Sobyanin stressed that, starting in the fall of 2020, about 200 people will undergo sports training at the new sports complex in North Medvedkovo, RIAMO writes. First of all, pupils of Moscow sports schools, including the disabled, will be engaged, the website kp.ru writes. In their free time from training, everyone can attend it. A football field, an athletics center and an administrative and sports building will be built here, writes NSN.

Five more new football fields are going to be built in VAO, YuZAO, YuVAO, and two complexes will appear in ZelAO. These will be full-size football fields with artificial turf, heating and stands. In the South-Eastern District, the football field will have natural turf.

In early June, it was reported that the city authorities decided to postpone the start of improvement and construction of a number of facilities until 2021 due to the difficulties associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
