Shootings are again taking place in the Leilek region of Kyrgyzstan on the border with Tajikistan. This was reported on Friday, April 30, by “Sputnik Kyrgyzstan” with reference to the press service of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Batken region.
They clarified that the shooting is being carried out in the villages of Arka-2 and Borborduk.
In addition, Omurbek Suvanaliev, plenipotentiary representative of the government of the Batken region, reported about a shootout between Tajik and Kyrgyz border guards. It happened at the Kyzyl-Bel – Guliston checkpoint. The firefight was short-lived, no casualties were reported.
It also became known about the shelling of the village of Kyzyl-Bel in the border area with Tajikistan.
Earlier that day, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on the parties through further negotiations to reach stable and long-term agreements that would normalize the situation. In addition, Moscow considers it necessary to take measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
The day before, there was a shootout between the servicemen of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the border of the states. It was preceded by a conflict between local residents in the area of the Golovnoy water distribution point, the ownership of which is disputed by both parties.
The Kyrgyz Ministry of Health and Social Development reported 13 fatalities as a result of the conflict. According to the latest data, 134 people were injured.
On Friday, the parties decided to withdraw troops from the state border line.
