The production of champagne in Russia in July fell by half compared to the same period in 2019, wine drinks – by 13.5 times. This was announced on Friday, August 7, at the National Union for the Protection of Consumer Rights.
“In July, the production of champagne and sparkling wines in the Russian Federation fell by half, the production of wine drinks with the addition of ethyl alcohol (vermouths of the Martini type) fell by 13.5 times,” the RIA Novosti union reports.
Production of wines in total in Russia for the period from January to July compared with the same period last year decreased by 8.1% – to 92.7 million decaliters, in July – by 7.8%, to 14.6 million decaliters.
It is also noted that the volume of production of champagne and sparkling wines in July amounted to 503.5 thousand decaliters. During the period from January to July 2020, 6.5 million decaliters of champagne were produced. This is 20.8% less than in 2019.
On July 19, it was reported that champagne and still wines, which Russians preferred in conditions of self-isolation, retained their leading positions in terms of sales growth even after the restrictions were lifted.
