A Vermont resident was surprised to see a package of disinfectant wipes arrive nearly a year after his order was made during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seeing the scale of the health crisis in the United States, Benjy Renton preferred to prepare for any eventuality by ordering several cleaning products on the Internet before returning from his student exchange in China, in March 2020.
“It was early in the pandemic, and we can’t find what we were looking for in stores and we want to make sure we have a good quantity,” he said in a telephone interview with CTV News.
While the cleaner and the two bottles of hand sanitizer ordered arrived a week later, this was not the case with the four packs of sanitizer wipes that were not delivered until last Thursday.
“To be honest, I had completely forgotten about them,” he admitted with a laugh.
The man from Vermont had discovered an American company on the Internet that was still taking orders for disinfectant, rubbing alcohol and disinfectant wipes, even though the products were not in stock.
He also admits that he has not yet used all the products he bought at the start of the pandemic.
