Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will visit Russia on the issue of resuming flights when the situation with COVID-19 in his country returns to normal. He stated this on April 20 on the air of the Habertürk TV channel.
As he recalled, Russia has limited flights due to the increase in coronavirus cases in Turkey. “The presidents of the two countries discussed this, and such a decision was made, there is no politics here. But we have introduced additional restrictions, ”the head of Turkish diplomacy said.
According to Cavusoglu, if the restrictions are violated, Turkey will not cope with the pandemic and the tourism industry will be at risk.
A Russian delegation will soon visit Turkey to assess the safety of tourism, he added. After that, Cavusoglu and the Minister of Tourism will visit Moscow.
Earlier on Tuesday, Rospotrebnadzor ordered Russians arriving from Turkey and Tanzania before May 1 to take a coronavirus test twice. Also at airports, specialists will selectively test foreigners for coronavirus.
On April 15, Russia limited air traffic with Turkey and Tanzania until June 1 due to the worsening situation with COVID-19 in these countries. On Friday, the daily increase in new cases of coronavirus in Turkey exceeded 63 thousand cases.
