Czech Foreign Minister Jakub Kulganek said Prague is not interested in escalating relations with Moscow. According to him, the Czech Republic stands for a pragmatic settlement of relations with Russia. However, for this, as the Foreign Minister pointed out, efforts of both sides are necessary.
In the coming months, Kulganek expects negotiations with the Russian Federation on technical issues of the functioning of the embassies. According to the minister, there are areas in which Prague and Moscow have opposite interests. However, some of the problems are seen in the same way.
Now Czech-Russian relations are entering a difficult phase, Kulganek is sure. However, he believes that over time they will be resolved.
In an interview with the Slovak newspaper Pravda, he did not confirm that there are possible differences in attitude to the incident in Vrbetica between the Cabinet of Ministers and President Milos Zeman. He added that the government informed Zeman about all the steps that the Cabinet took in response to Vrbetica, and he supported them.
