Observance of social distance, which became necessary during the coronavirus pandemic, is not one hundred percent protection against the disease, but affects the spread of infection by wind, temperature and humidity. This was stated by the staff of the medical school of the University of Nicosia, writes the Cypriot edition of the Cyprus mail on February 6.

According to Professor Dimitris Drikakis and his colleague Talib Dbouk, weather factors have a key influence on the place and time of the next wave of the pandemic. According to experts, maintaining social distance makes sense in conditions of complete calm. But on the whole, this measure is insufficient.

“Research results show that in March 2020, when temperatures rise, the transmission rate increases as we get closer to the northern regions of the planet. And in August 2020, it begins to grow in the southern regions, ”the authors of the scientific work noted. According to them, the minimum social distance is two meters.

“Two pandemic outbreaks a year are inevitable as they are directly related to what we call seasonal weather fluctuations,” Drikakis added.

Earlier, Aghasi Tavadyan, an expert on statistics and modeling at the Center for Economic Research, estimated the likelihood of a third wave of coronavirus incidence in Russia.

On the eve of the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko said that the coronavirus in the country is receding.

Currently, a number of countries around the world, including the Russian Federation, are being vaccinated against coronavirus. The first coronavirus vaccine in Russia and the world was registered on August 11. Sputnik V was developed by specialists from the Gamaleya Center.

Large-scale vaccination of the population against COVID-19 began in Russia on January 18. The need for this was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who called the center’s vaccine the best in the world.
