In the area of the city of Moa, Cuban province of Holguín, on the evening of March 19, a meteorite supposedly fell. This was reported by the local publication Cubadebate.

In the east of the island at 22:06 (05:06 Moscow time), eyewitnesses noticed white and red lights, followed by two explosions.

“Judging by the readings of the sensors, it was not an earth explosion, but since it was an event with such characteristics, our equipment recorded a shock wave,” Enrique Arango Arias, head of the National Seismological Service, told reporters.

Other eyewitnesses said that they noticed light in the sky and saw a flash that looked like a strong lightning, while they did not feel any shocks or explosions.

There is no information about the destruction and casualties.

Earlier, on March 12, information appeared that a meteor flew in the sky over Yakutia. The state corporation “Roskosmos” explained that this object could be a spent upper stage “Fregat” burning in the atmosphere.

It is specified that the upper stage was launched as part of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle in 2009 with a group of spacecraft from different states.
