China has installed 718 thousand base stations for 5G

The total number of base stations installed in China for 5G communication reached 718 thousand, which is about 70% of all such stations in the world. This was announced on Tuesday, February 23, by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Informatization of the People’s Republic of China Liu Lehong, TASS reports.

According to him, in China, about 200 million terminals are connected according to the fifth generation communication standard. More than 2.18 million mobile phones with 5G technology have already entered the country’s market, the official said, speaking at the opening ceremony of the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai.

China’s leading mobile operators have begun providing fifth-generation communication services to the public at the end of October 2019. In 2020, about 580 thousand base stations for 5G communication were installed in the country, the network of which has already covered all cities of the district significance. In 2021, according to the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the PRC, it is planned to install more than 600 thousand new stations.

Earlier, on January 20, it was reported that investments in the development of 5G networks in Russia from 2021 to 2027 could amount to 1-1.1 trillion rubles. The forecasts were made by the Analytical Credit Rating Agency (ACRA) in its study of the Russian telecommunications market.

Earlier, on January 27, the press service of the Department of Information Technology (DIT) of Moscow reported that the Izmerov Research Institute of Occupational Medicine (NIIMT) told about the results of a 5G safety study.

According to experts, Russia has some of the world’s strictest sanitary radiation requirements – almost 100 times stricter than in most European countries.
