Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held telephone talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

During the talks, the sides discussed, in particular, bilateral issues, the peace process in Afghanistan, the upcoming meeting in Istanbul, Syria and the Middle East.

“The parties had a constructive and useful conversation,” writes TASS, citing a source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Monday, April 12.

Earlier Monday, the Tolo News TV channel, citing a representative of the radical Taliban movement (banned in Russia) Mohammad Naim, said that its members are not yet ready to participate in a conference on a peaceful settlement in Afghanistan, which is to be held in Istanbul on April 16.

The Taliban will announce their decision shortly.

In early April, the expert, in an interview with Izvestia, suggested that Ramadan, which would begin on April 13 and last until May 12, could become a formal pretext for canceling the negotiations.
