US President Joseph Biden arrived in Texas and got acquainted with the consequences of the disaster in Houston on the spot. This was reported by the press service of the White House on Friday, February 26.
It is noted that during his visit to Texas, Biden visited the Harris County emergency center, as well as the food aid distribution fund in Houston and the state’s largest coronavirus vaccination facility.
Biden was told about the disruption to the water supply, which is still ongoing in the state, writes CNN. The president himself thanked all emergency workers, saying that they are doing “God’s work.”
On February 16, a blizzard that covered 25 states in the Midwest, as well as the southern part of the United States, left more than 3 million people without electricity.
On February 14, Biden, at the request of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, declared a statewide emergency at the federal level.
According to the latest data, almost 50 people have already become victims of bad weather, some of them died from hypothermia, some from carbon monoxide poisoning, trying to keep warm.
Texas has become one of the worst-hit states: bad weather has led to difficulties with water and electricity cuts, the suspension of refineries and other businesses.
