Bailiffs in the Oryol region recovered 18 million rubles from drunk drivers

In the Oryol region in 2020, bailiffs-executors collected 18 million rubles from debtors who did not pay a fine for drunk driving. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Bailiff Service of Russia for the region.

According to the department, to administrative responsibility under Part 1 of Art. 20.25 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (“Evasion of administrative punishment”) attracted 152 people. Within the framework of 110 enforcement proceedings, arrests were imposed on the property of drivers, writes InFoOrel.ru.

In respect of debtors on fines for which the period of deprivation of a driver’s license established by the court has expired, 297 orders were issued imposing restrictions on the management of any vehicles. Drivers will be able to return behind the wheel only after paying off the debt.

In total, in 2020, as a result of a set of measures, the bailiffs of the Oryol Region collected a debt of 18 million rubles from drunk drivers.

On March 16, it was reported that the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs had developed amendments according to which the maximum prison term for systematic drunk driving is planned to be increased from two to three years. Now for drunk driving (if there is no corpus delicti) a fine of 30 thousand rubles is provided with deprivation of a driver’s license for a period of 1.5 to 2 years.

In November 2020, the Ministry of Internal Affairs also drafted a bill that would prevent drivers caught driving drunk from getting their driver’s license quickly.
