President of the unrecognized republic of Nagorno-Karabakh Arayik Harutyunyan was seriously wounded as a result of shelling of the Karabakh capital, Stepanakert. On Sunday, October 4, TASS writes about this with reference to the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev.

The press secretary of the Karabakh leader Vahram Poghosyan denied this information.

“This is absolute misinformation. The President is alive and well, fully performing his duties, he just made a video message. We understand that the judicious decisions of the president cause panic in Azerbaijan, but we must disappoint them, ”RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Earlier that day, Karabakh said that in response to the shelling of its territory by Azerbaijan, it would launch attacks on its military installations. Residents of cities where there are such facilities were asked to leave them in order to avoid casualties.

In Baku, it was reported that rockets were fired from the territory of Armenia at the city of Ganja, and from the Karabakh Stepanakert, the villages of Aghdam and Terter regions and the cities of Terter and Horadiz in the Fizuli region are being fired.

Armenia, for its part, announced the shelling of civilian targets in Stepanakert by the Azerbaijani army and denied the fire from its territory.

Another aggravation of the situation in the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic occurred on September 27. Armenia and Azerbaijan blamed each other for shelling and killed among the military and civilians.

Armenia has repeatedly accused Turkey of participating in the battles on the side of Azerbaijan. Ankara and Baku deny this information, while the Turkish authorities expressed their readiness to provide assistance to the Azerbaijani side upon request.

Russia, France, the United States and the UN called on the parties to a ceasefire and a peaceful settlement.
