An attempt to rob one of the Chik-fil-A restaurants located on Peach Street in Atlanta, Georgia, failed. And thanks for this should be not only the local police who quickly responded to the call, but also bystanders who, with weapons in their hands, detained the criminal who was trying to escape.
Here is how the police report describes the incident: “The police officers who arrived at the scene interviewed witnesses and found out that at 3 o’clock in the afternoon a man entered the restaurant and, threatening with weapons, demanded money from several of his employees, who managed to run out into the street. When, after a while, the robber left the restaurant, the townspeople who happened to be near the restaurant stopped him, and one of them, who had a weapon with him, fired several times into the air. In the end, the townspeople grabbed the criminal and held him until the police arrived. “
Failed robber Willie Gloston was arrested and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in the offense. No one of the citizens who participated in his detention was injured, and their use of weapons in this incident was considered justified.
