On April 27, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports 10.976 new infections, which is less than the previous day (11.976). There were 344 corona deaths per day. The nationwide 7-day incidence dropped to 167.6 (169.3). 5122 patients are currently undergoing intensive care. More than 19.4 million people in Germany have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Since the start of the pandemic, 3,310,301 cases of the virus have been identified in Germany. This means that the number of cases in comparison with the previous day increased by 10.976 cases. In total, 81,969 people have died as a result of the Covid-19 disease since the start of the pandemic.

The seven-day incidence for Germany is 167.6. This figure shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants of the country have been infected in the past seven days. The recommended incidence rate is 50. However, these numbers are not scientifically calculated optimal indicators, but rather benchmarks. They are essential for the effective operation of local health authorities. Up to 50 cases, the epidemiological situation is under control; the chain of infection of the infected can be traced.

The number of active cases, that is, people who are currently infected, is estimated at about 297,000 cases. This number is obtained by subtracting the number of deaths (81.968) and the number of recovered (2.931.400) from all ever infected (3.310.301).

The data is based on a statement by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which receives information from the regional health authorities in Germany. They provide updated information several times a day. Since reporting rates vary by region, there may be deviations and fixes as a result of late reporting. In addition, sometimes there are delays in displaying data for individual federal states.
