In the waters of the Black Sea, military specialists defused a mine from the time of the Great Patriotic War by remote detonation.
A dangerous find was made on the roadstead of Sevastopol during a routine inspection. The KB-3 mine of the 1931 model was lying at a depth of 15 meters about a kilometer from the coast. It was not possible to defuse the projectile on the spot or raise it to the surface. We chose the option of undermining.
The combat swimmers went to sea on a boat and, in accordance with all the requirements of the regulations, lowered the diver under the water, who laid the charge. After the man returned on board, the boat moved back to a safe distance. After a certain time, the mine exploded.
In total, 10 employees of the submarine saboteur squad (PDSS) were involved in the operation, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet added.
