Former adviser to 45th US President Donald Trump Jared Kushner and White House special envoy for Middle East settlement Avi Berkowitz have been nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. This was reported on Monday, February 1, by Reuters.

According to the agency, the politicians were nominated for their role in concluding the “Abrahamic Peace Accords”, which are aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and the Arab states.

Alan Dershowitz, a professor emeritus of Harvard Law School, proposed nominating these candidates for the award. He also mentioned the important role in the conclusion of agreements of the ex-US ambassador to Israel and David Friedman and the Israeli ambassador to the US Ron Dermere.

“The Nobel Peace Prize is not awarded for popularity. It is also not an assessment of the opinion of the international community about those who helped bring about peace. This is an award given to those who meet the incredibly strict requirements that Alfred Nobel prescribed in his will, ”Dershowitz emphasized in his address.

The final list of nominees for the Nobel Prize will be prepared after March.

Earlier on January 29, it became known that the American Black Lives Matter movement was nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. The motion was proposed to be nominated by the deputy of the Norwegian parliament Petter Eide.
