Russia, despite the announced economic sanctions against it, remains a threat to the existence of the United States and its European allies. This was announced on Wednesday by the head of the US European Command, General Tod Walters, during the Air Force Association Forum.
“We live in a time of great power competition,” he said, adding that winning today will ensure that great power competition does not escalate into a global war. According to the military leader, despite economic sanctions, Russia is carrying out “destabilizing and malicious actions in the world.” He stressed that at the same time “many actions are taking place close to Europe.” The general also named a set of standard charges against Russia. In particular, Walters believes that Moscow is trying to “divide and weaken the US partners and allies.”
According to the military leader, Russia remains a constant threat to the existence of the United States and its European allies. The general believes that Russia and China “continue to militarize the Arctic” and want to create an economic foothold for regional influence.
