The Ministry of Health of the Altai Territory on October 22 explained the accumulation of bodies of deceased patients with coronavirus in the basement of the Barnaul hospital.
Earlier on the same day, a video appeared on social networks of a lot of black bags in the basement of the clinic, in which, according to the author of the video, there are the corpses of deceased patients, writes Gazeta.ru.
The regional health ministry said that due to the increased workload, there are not enough pathologists and chambers for storing bodies. As a result, a separate room was equipped, in which the required temperature is maintained, Interfax reports.
In addition, the head of the pathological department of the 11th hospital, Vladimir Klimachev, noted that relatives do not always have time to pick up the bodies of deceased patients day after day.
“In order to at least somewhat reduce the sequence of autopsies, we are doing everything possible. We currently work in two shifts, seven days a week, including Saturday and Sunday. We are doing our best to speed up this process, ”he said in a video message posted on the Ministry of Health’s Instagram page.
Last week, in one of the Taganrog hospitals, the bodies of patients who died from COVID-19 were not taken out of the department for almost two days. The head of the press service of the city administration, Elizaveta Kupovykh, explained that this situation arose due to the heavy workload on the medical staff.
