Police in the Moscow region detained a man suspected of committing a burglary in the amount of over 5 million rubles. This was announced on Thursday, April 22, by the portal “Ministry of Internal Affairs Media” with reference to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The law enforcement agencies received an appeal about the theft from an apartment of one of the houses on the Savinskoye highway in Balashikha near Moscow. The investigators found that the attacker entered the apartment by picking keys to the front door lock and stole money and jewelry. The amount of damage exceeded 5 million rubles.
In the course of operational-search activities, police officers identified and, with the support of Rosgvardia fighters, detained a 49-year-old suspect. During a search at his place of temporary residence in the Bogorodsky district, law enforcement officers found and seized money, mobile phones, master keys, SIM cards, jewelry and bank cards.
A criminal case was initiated under the article on theft. The suspect is in custody. Law enforcement officers are carrying out the necessary investigative actions to identify additional episodes of the attacker’s criminal activity, the Moscow city news agency writes.
On April 19, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation announced that the number of crimes registered in Russia in the first quarter of 2021 decreased by 1.8% compared to the same period last year. Thus, during the specified period, there were fewer robberies – by 19.3%, robberies – by 25.2%. The total number of thefts decreased by 5.9%, including apartment thefts – by 31.1% and vehicle thefts – by 41.2%.
