A source from Moscow stated that there are US-owned biolabs in Ukraine. On April 10, RIA Novosti writes about this.
“Such laboratories do exist, and we also have concerns. And not only in Ukraine, but also in Georgia, ”said the source of the news agency.
The United States remains the only country that still blocks the creation of a verification mechanism under the 1972 Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction.
On April 7, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said that Russia has good reason to believe that biological weapons are being developed in US-controlled biological laboratories. According to him, basically these laboratories appear at the borders of Russia and China.
In areas where such laboratories have appeared, outbreaks of diseases are recorded that are not typical for these regions, he added.
In turn, the official representative of the PRC Foreign Ministry Zhao Lijian said that the US government should provide the international community with information about the experiments that are being carried out in the American military biological laboratories in Ukraine and in Fort Detrick.
Earlier, in the summer of 2020, deputies from the Opposition Platform – For Life party demanded that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) initiate a criminal case over the actions of American bacteriological laboratories in the country.
According to the deputy Renat Kuzmin, the head of the SBU was required to initiate a case on the fact of espionage in favor of the United States and committed acts of sabotage, “entailing human casualties as a result of the infection of Ukrainians with diseases exotic for our region.” In addition, Kuzmin accused the authorities of hiding the truth about American laboratories in Ukraine.
