An Alabama man shot a pedestrian who he said was crossing the street too slowly, reports the Union Springs Police Department.

The victim, Johnarian Travez Allen, 29, was shot eight times Thursday night in a small town in Bullock County.

By the time the police arrived at the scene, the suspect had fled. However, the authorities say that Jeremiah Wesley Penn, 22, changed his mind and went to one of his friends, members of the police.

Police said the victim went to the store to buy food. As he was crossing the street on his return, the gunman, who felt the man was late in crossing the street, got out of his car and fired, killing Johnarian Travez Allen instantly.

Jeremiah Wesley Penn is being held at Bullock County Penitentiary and is charged with murder.
