A criminal case was initiated on the fact of poisoning of 21 children with chlorine in a swimming pool in Nizhny Lomov near Penza. This was reported on April 24 on the website of the Investigative Department of the Regional Investigative Committee.

It is noted that the criminal case was initiated under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers, resulting in the infliction of serious harm to health by negligence.”

According to preliminary data. On April 24, while swimming, 21 minors born in 2004-2013 received chlorine poisoning of varying severity. Seven children were hospitalized.

Investigators and prosecutors organized a check. Specialists of Rospotrebnadzor are also involved in it.

Acting Governor of the Penza Region Oleg Melnichenko left for the scene. The regional government noted that all children are conscious.

On April 14, it was reported that eight children were taken to hospital as a result of poisoning after visiting a swimming pool in Izhevsk. At the scene of the incident, officers of the Investigative Committee arrived, who examined the scene and interviewed the victims. Details and circumstances of the incident are being established.
