In Russia over the past day, 9321 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in 85 regions, the COVID-19 operational headquarters said on Saturday, April 17.
398 deaths were recorded. During the day in Russia, 8,832 people fully recovered.
Most of all new cases of coronavirus were detected in Moscow (2822), St. Petersburg (701) and in the Moscow region (586).
In total, 4 693 469 cases of coronavirus in 85 regions have been identified in Russia to date. Over the entire period, 105,193 deaths were recorded, 4,319,389 people recovered.
Earlier, on April 12, the head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, announced the lack of stability in the world in terms of the situation with coronavirus. At the same time, she pointed out that in Russia, thanks to the measures taken, an improvement is noticeable.
Popova urged Russians to get vaccinated against COVID-19, since vaccination is the most effective tool for preventing the disease.
Large-scale vaccination of the population against COVID-19 in Russia began on January 18. The vaccination is given free of charge to everyone.
Three vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the Russian Federation today: Sputnik V, developed by the Gamaleya Center, EpiVacCorona from the Vector Center and KoviVak from the V.I. Chumakov.
On April 10, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced the development of another COVID-19 vaccine in the country.
