Over the past day, 8,731 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Russia, the operational headquarters for the fight against COVID-19 reported on Friday, April 30.
Most of all new cases were detected in Moscow (2662), St. Petersburg (725) and Moscow region (651).
The headquarters also reported that 397 infected patients died in a day, 8 406 people recovered.
To date, 4,805,288 cases of coronavirus have been identified in Russia in 85 regions. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 110,128 people have died from the infection, 4,427,946 patients have recovered.
Earlier, on April 29, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that the department expects a seasonal rise in the incidence of respiratory infections, including COVID-19, by the fall.
The head of the department pointed out the importance of compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological requirements, and also stressed that vaccination against coronavirus is the only way to protect yourself and your health.
On April 27, WHO Representative in Russia Melita Vujnovich said that there is a soft plateau in the spread of coronavirus infection in the country, but the danger remains. She also advised Russians to be more careful about their health during the May holidays.
On January 18, a large-scale vaccination against COVID-19 began in Russia. The vaccination is given free of charge to everyone. At the moment, three vaccines against coronavirus have been registered in the country: Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona and KoviVac. As noted in the Ministry of Health, the activity of vaccination against coronavirus infection in Russia is high.
