Nearly 40 missing children, believed to be destined for sex trafficking, have been found during a major police operation in the state of Georgia, United States.
Operation “Not Forgotten” took place over more than two weeks and mobilized several police forces.
Among them, police officers specializing in the search for missing children of the US Marshals who roamed the north and center of the state for several days.
26 officially missing children were discovered. Thirteen others were also found, authorities said.
According to State Attorney General Chris Carr, these children were already victims or intended for sex trafficking.
Nine suspects were arrested during this operation and three others were identified by the police.
Many social workers are mobilized to help traumatized children.
