Investigators detained one of the suspects in the murder of the owner of the factories “Meat Empire” and “Ozeretskie sausages” Vladimir Marugov. Olga Vradiy, a senior assistant to the head of the regional head office of the Investigative Committee for the region, told TASS on Monday, November 2.
“By joint efforts of the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the suspects was detained. A complex of investigative and operational-search measures to identify an accomplice continues, ”she told the agency.
As added in the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Moscow region, the detainee is a native of one of the Central Asian republics born in 1971.
Earlier that day, the investigation opened a criminal case into the murder of Marugov. This was reported by the press service of the main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Moscow region.
It was noted that during the inspection of the scene, investigators and criminologists seized the crossbow from which the businessman was shot, as well as other items that are important for further investigation. It was also established that the attackers fled in a car.
The murder was committed on the evening of November 1. Unknown persons entered the bathhouse where the businessman was. Presumably, his wife was with him. The woman was tied with a rope, but she was able to get out and escape through the window, and then call the police.
The malefactors began to demand that we give them money. After that, they killed Marugov with a crossbow shot.
The attackers managed to escape and are currently being searched for. According to some reports, the suspect is an ex-employee of Marugov.
